This article takes in detail a look at Jack Nicholson’s lines about how the freedom that they represented scared people. The author feels that rather that the freedom that it is the recognized counter culture that is what frightens people. The author also does a long comparison of “Easy Rider” to another more modern drug counter culture film called Requiem for a dream” according to the author they represent the counter culture of two different time periods and a change from external freedom to internal. I found the article to be a very interesting that looks into the statement of freedom that Hopper and Fonda seemed to be after.
