I found a site that I seem to share several opinions with. They also draw the same conclusion I reached about the films we watched being attempts to draw on two audiences of die hard fans in a mostly slapped together plot. I recall seeing the predator vs. Alien promos thinking it was going to be a large scale intergalactic war. The promo was taken out of context and presented in a totally different light from what the movie was really about. I understand this is a marketing technique but it is still very misleading just like the Freddy Vs. Jason promos were, and most movies hitting the theater lately.

Hollywood does a great job at marketing their films. No matter if the movie is good or bad, it always seems to show the best parts of the film so that you will run out and see it.
