I have got to say that when I first learned about the movie Pirated of the Caribbean I immediately remembered the ride and thought it would be a cheesy plot less film. I was very surprised by all of the posters and the marketing which seemed to be targeted at adults. I thought this was strange that so much of the films focus was being directed at adults, especially since it was of course a Disney film. I have always enjoyed Disney films but they are usually targeted at a younger audience. I really enjoy the movie and feel that it is a well made film that did a good job telling a good story and maintaining the feel of the theme park ride. The reading was interesting, I guess I also feel that theme park rides are a lot like films in their attempt to entertain. The obvious difference being that your immersion is also a physical one. It has been a while since I have been on a ride, but the ride I recall that the text mentions is the Back to the future ride at Universal studios. I recall that ride was a lot more immersing that similar rides at Disneyland and Sea world. This ride has dramatic well synchronized movements that felt a lot more exciting that the others. I think the smaller groups also helped with the feel of the experience.

It was nice to view a Disney film that wasn’t just geared towards adults. I go with my family at least once a year to Disneyland and love the ride Pirates of the Caribbean. I can’t wait for the sequel to come out this summer.
